What sort of food do you provide?

We understand that parents want their children to adopt healthy eating habits from an early age. With over a 1/5th of children overweight or obese when they join reception, it’s really important that children understand how food can keep them fit and healthy.

The Elm Park Kitchen

Elm Park Nursery is committed to healthy eating.Children are offered a wide-ranging menu that incorporates all the essential food groups. We try to go one step further than most nurseries; our chefs regularly attempt to excite the children with food in terms of creating great, wholesome food with different colours, shapes and tastes.  This is always fun! Our chefs are also available to advise teachers on suitable cooking activities to do with children.

5 Star environmental health rating

Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon high tea are prepared in our kitchen (‘Five star’ environmental health-rated) with fresh ingredients from trusted food suppliers such as Foodari. No additional salt or sugar is added to our tasty meals and we always provide a morning snack of fruit if they want it.  Our aim is to ensure that no child goes home hungry and is completely satisfied with the food that they have been offered.

Lunch is a tactile activity – and an opportunity to try something different

Elm Park lunches incorporate a variety of flavours and textures which encourage children to develop a healthy relationship with food rather than simply eating it!

Catering for special dietary needs

We completely understand that parents with a child that has special dietary needs, wants to have confidence that their child will be well catered for in their absence, particularly when it comes to conditions like nut allergy, wheat intolerance etc. Particular attention is paid to our younger babies who are starting on their weaning journey.  For us it is important to have a close partnership with parents to monitor the baby’s responses to the different foods offered to them.

Meal times at Elm Park are relaxed and always social

Mealtimes are a relaxed and social time in the nursery. Staff and children come together to share food, so that little ones can start to develop social skills and good table etiquette.  Children are offered milk and water to drink and can access water throughout the day. Older children are encouraged to manage their own snack times to promote independence and other skills.

Elm Park Nursery, Clapham provides little ones with a home from home experience.  When you need to be at work and have to leave your baby or child with someone else, you can be confident that we nurture and encourage your son or daughter, through his or her tender early years.  Whether your child joins our beautiful baby suite, lower or upper school, our amazing team will make sure they go home having had the best day ever!
